Where Is The Heat?

St. Croix is hot - Virginia Beach is not. Well, not this time of year anyway. I know that no matter what I do, it will be difficult to fully prepare myself for the heat and humidity that awaits me in St. Croix, but I have been doing some silly stuff to try and get used to riding and running in warmer temperatures.I have been doing a lot of work inside and that allows me to heat things up a bit. For now, I have traded in my trusty 20 inch box fans for two new friends:

My two new buddies: "Hot" and "Hotter"

And I have been over-dressing a bit for the inside stuff:

The winter base layer for the trainer ride
always makes things more fun

It definitely gets HOT during the trainer/treadmill sessions so hopefully I am preparing myself to some degree.

In other news, I am still on the hunt for the perfect post-workout  recovery food. I find that most recovery drinks taste like a 50/50 mixture of Gatorade and gymnast chalk; sort of like that "contrast mud" they make you drink before a CT Scan. Yuk. So the search continues:

How many of these do I have to eat to recover?

How about these? It says "made with whole grains"
so that's good right?

Ok, I will keep looking.

Next weekend my season officially kicks off, as I head to Morehead City, NC for the Crystal Coast Half Marathon. I'm feeling pretty strong right now so hopefully it goes well.

Thanks for stopping by.
