2010 was a good year and hopefully this year will be even better. I am still figuring out the race schedule but the St. Croix 70.3 on May 1st will be the first big test. What I do the rest of the year will depend on what happens there. So the prep has begun and it has been tough. May 1st is pretty early for a big race given our climate challenges here in the mid Atlantic, but I have seen guys from colder places than Virginia Beach go to early, hot, hilly races and do well so why can't I? But it won't be easy if today is any indication. You have to get that long ride in on the weekends and in January, it isn't always as simple as going out for a Sunday morning 3 hour ride. When I checked the weather this morning the temperature was 27 with a pretty stiff breeze, so I opted for the trainer. Yes, 3 hours on the trainer. The work has to get done right?
Today's rations. One good thing about riding inside is that
you can have your coffee during the warm up.
I was expecting days like this so I upgraded my pain cave a bit with a bigger screen and a DVD player. So today I watched the movie Heat while I logged the miles. A plot, and a little suspense really helped pass the time.
Once I catch up on Sportcenter
it's on to De Niro and Pacino!
Done!
In the end it wasn't so bad; I actually think I could do it again, which is good because chances are I will probably have to. Although I can't help asking myself what is crazier: Riding outside in sub 30 degree weather? Or riding for 183 minutes and going absolutely nowhere? I will have to think about that one.
Thanks for stopping by.
